The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the leading global accountancy qualification attracting students from over 70 countries and recognised in over 150.
It is divided into two distinct levels, referred to as Fundamentals (‘F’ level) and Professional (‘P’ level). The academic standard is level 5 and 6 respectively.
To achieve ‘F’ level, there are 6 mandatory units on the basis that an AAT qualification or specific accountancy degree qualification has been attained. This section is normally studied over two years on a part-time basis.
To achieve ‘P’ level, there are 3 essential units (mandatory) and a selection of a further two units from four options. This section is normally studied in 1 year and 2 terms on a part time basis.
We run a flexible roll-on/roll-off system, which enables students entry onto the course. This can be at the beginning of each term as per the unit required, or as a start to the whole programme.
The ACCA qualification is a top tier accountancy qualification, enabling qualified members to reach senior accountancy positions in practice, industry or commerce.
Whilst not mandatory, it is normally expected that learners will be in accountancy related employment. It is however, necessary that the pre-qualification standards (AAT or a degree in accountancy or finance) have been achieved to study on this course.
Learning and Assessment
Learning will be conducted in the class room once per week (5 hours contact time) for approximately 32 weeks. In addition, the guided learning hours outside the classroom, are indicatively two hours for every one hour spent in the classroom.
We aim to cover 1 unit per academic term to co-incide with ACCA’s examination dates.
Text books will be provided including revision kit books. Wider reading is encouraged. Interim assessment will be conducted in the form of practice questions and past/mock exams.
Programme of Study
Completion of the ‘F’ level entitles you to entry to the ’P’ level. In addition, this is an acceptable
qualification to obtain a BSc in Accounting and Finance at Oxford Brookes University by completing
single unit essay submission on professional ethics. A learner qualified to ‘F’ level, is at a recognised stage for most employers.
